

| Different age groups have different requirements for their skin. For example, teenagers have firm soft wrinkle free skin and don’t require as much care as middle-aged people. So we’ve gathered together a few little handy tips to help you get the best out of your skin no matter what age group you fall into. Women in Their 20’s • Use as much screen as you can. Remember the sun causes wrinkles and age spots that will stay with you without proper treatment till your dying breath • Remember to use a really good cleanser and eye cream in your daily routine • Use concealer to disguise dark circles that may accumulate after a night out with the girls • Use a light tinted moisturizer and stick foundation that matches your skin tone exactly to even out your skin tone and cover your blemishes. Women In Their 30’s • Use two blushes, find one that will blend easily into your skin and a brighter shade to wake your face up • Always have a neutral lip color handy that you can put on without looking in the mirror Women In Their 40’s • If you were one of those youngsters that loved the beach and tanned daily not thinking of the future outcome, don’t worry its not to late to wear sunscreen to prevent additional sun damage. • Use spot-apply foundation to cover redness and to even out your skin tone. • Use eyeliner and mascara to add definition to your eyes. • Don’t think your too old to experiment with hair color. Some highlights throughout your hair will both brighten up your face and cover the grey. Women In Their 50’s • Don’t be afraid to use just that little bit more moisturizer along with that extra-rich formula. This will make your skin look fresher and the lines less noticeable • Use a creamy foundation with moisturizing ingredients • Be sure to use lip liner to keep your lipstick form feathering and eyeliner to bring out your eyes. • Always remember a thin light moisturizer is to be used during the day and under make up. Food For Your skin Red, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables - contain caretenoids. Caretenoids reduce sunburn. Tart cherries and peppermint leaves – these fruits are rich in perillyl alcohol, recently found to stop cancer formation in human cells under intense UV light. Leafy greens – these veggies have lutein and zeaxanthin, which stop UV-induced cell proliferation. Green Tea – have antioxidants called EGCGs, that block DNA damage in light-exposed human skin cells. Oranges, lemons and limes – reduces the risk of skin cancer. Wild salmon – is a safe source of fish oils, this protects you from UV-induced sunburn and cancerous DNA changes. Money savers Exfoliate - Mix olive oil with sea salt or sugar. Smooth over your skin in circular motion all over your body (avoid the breast area) Rinse off and apply your Moisturizer. Body Brush - A great way to stimulate the natural oil glands in your body is to dry brush. Use a natural bristle body brush and start brushing lightly at your feet in circular motions moving up toward the rest of your body. After you have gently brushed your entire body, take a warm shower and slather your body with your moisturizer Hands Before you go to sleep slather your hands with Vaseline and put some moisturizer gloves on, leaving the moisture to sink in over night. When you wake in the morning you’ll be surprised with the baby softness of your hands During the day be sure to keep a hand cream on your desk at work or in the car. If for some reason you ever run out of cleansers, raid your fridge for Cleansers either, gentle cream, gentle yogurt and even a pinch of buttermilk. Moisturizer - Replace your after shower moisturizer with a mixture of almond oil. Alternative a few drops of either peppermint, lavender or neroil. Rub this into your skin, spreading it all over your body. It will leave skin feeling smooth and supple. 1. Moisturize your legs before shaving, by doing this you will avoid shave razor burn. 2. Instead of using a shaving cream try smothering some hair conditioner for a few minutes before shaving; by doing this you will hold moisture on your legs longer and provide a very smooth shave. Skin softening • Straight after you hop out of the shower while your body is still wet, smother baby oil all over your entire body and let it soak in for about 1 min as the warm water will help the oil soak in. After the baby oil is nicely absorbed into your skin wipe it off along with the water that was left on your body from your shower and apply your favorite moisturizer all over your body. After 2 weeks you will notice your skin is baby soft. • No matter how tempting it may be, try not to exfoliate more than once every three days. By doing this you will allow new skin cells to grow back instead of scrubbing it off every time you exfoliate. The new skin cells will allow your skin to look and feel softer • Drink as much water as you can. By doing this you will hydrate your skin from the inside. • Be sure to have a humidifier on during summer. During summer your skin can replenish itself by soaking up the moisture in the air, so when you put on that thermostat be sure to turn on a humidifier as well. • Don’t use soap! Soap dries your skin and we all know that dry skin causes wrinkles. So instead of using soap find a body wash instead, and not just any body wash, find a body wash that has moisturizing on the label and is fragrance free. • During summer make sure you are wearing: sunscreen (not just your face, but all over your body as well), a wide brimmed hat, long sleeve blouses and slacks. By wearing all this you will stop the suns powerful rays from drying and wrinkling your skin. • Don’t smoke! • Smile! A smiling, pleasant relaxed expression is good for your face and will help your look younger • Sleep with a pillow under your lower spine. This will stop you from sleeping on your face and causing wrinkles. • Moisturize as many times a day as you can • One of Cleopatra's secrets to beauty, was bathing in milk, so the next time you have a bath, chuck in one cup of powder milk, it will help soften your skin. • To avoid hair growing back so fast after shaving, avoid wearing long pants and jeans. |
