A mask is a great way to cleanse, moisturize and soften your skin. Masks can be used for all sorts of
skin related problems such as, dryness, blemishes, wrinkles, shininess, oiliness and many more.
A mask is an excellent way to ensure that your skin is in top condition. It is best to use a mask twice a
week to keep your skin in top condition and also to prevent any further problems reoccurring, but for
some of us who have a tight budget or prefer “all natural” products (which are usually very expensive)
this can be a problem. The best solution for this is to use a home made mask…that’s right, you
probably have the ingredients right in your very own fridge! Below we have listed our favourite home
made masks…ENJOY!














If your have oily skin try…

• Finely grate and skin one apple, add starch and mix it together. Allow mask to work its magic for
20mins
• Slice a cucumber and place the cucumber slices on your forehead, chin and cheeks. Allow the
cucumber to work its magic for 15mins.
• Mix a bit of yeast into a paste using a small amount of water. This will cleanse your pores and
stimulate the skin. Allow mask to work its magic for 15mins.
• Mix together 1tsp of brewers yeast with plain yoghurt to form a thin paste. Apply this mask to your
face and leave it on for 15mins.
• Mix together half a tsp of lemon juice, one egg white, one tsp honey and half a cup of strawberries.
Apply the mask to face and leave on for 5 mins. Rinse off with a lot of water.

If you have delicate skin with broken capillaries try…

• Peel a peach and grate it well and mix it with yogurt. Allow mask to work its magic for 20mins.
• Finely grate a carrot and mix it with yogurt and olive oil. Allow mask to work its magic for 15mins.
• Finely grate a piece of pumpkin and mix it with an egg yolk. Allow mask to work its magic for 20mins.

If you have extremely tired skin and are in desperate need of a quick lift try…

• Mix some strawberry, raspberry and yoghurt together until it is mixed well. Apply this to your neck and
face and allow it to set for 20mins.
• Beat up 1 egg yolk with 1 tbs of olive oil and a few drops of lemon to the consistency of mayonnaise
and mix well. Apply this evenly to your face and neck and allow it dry.

If you have dry skin try…

• Mix together one tsp of dried milk with some warm boiled water. Add 1tsp of honey and mix together
well. Evenly apply the mask to your face and neck and allow it to set for 20mins
• Mix together 1egg yolk with 1tbsp of olive oil and few drops of lemon to the consistency of
mayonnaise. Brush the mask onto your face and neck and allow to dry.
• Mash apricots mixed with warm olive oil to form a paste. Apply this mixture to your face and neck and
allow to set for 15mins.
• Mix together 1 tsp of butter and 1 tsp of water. Apply the mask evenly to face and neck and allow it to
set for 15mins.
• Mix together half a avocado and one quarter of a cup of honey. Apply this to your face and neck and
allow to set for no more than five minutes. Rinse mask off with a lot of water.

If you have combination skin try…

• For this mask you will need:

1 rose
1tbsp rose water
1tbsp natural yogurt
1tbsp honey

Soak the rose petals then crush them into a bowl. Add the rosewater, yogurt and honey. Mix well and
apply to the skin. Leave this mask on for no more than five minutes. Rinse the mask off with a lot of
water.

• Choose a clay mask that will perfect for your skin and add floral waters or fruit purees. Make a thick
paste of the clay. Apply the mask to your skin and let it dry for twenty minutes. Rinse the mask of with a
lot of water.

A few extra feel good favorites

• Mash half a banana and add one-tablespoon honey and two tablespoons sour cream. Apply to face
and allow setting for ten minutes. Gently wipe the mask off with a damp washcloth.
• Mix together two tablespoons of cornmeal and just enough water to make a thick paste. Evenly apply
the mask to you face and neck and allow to set for 15mins. Rinse off with a lot of water.
• Grind one tbsp almonds into a fine meal in a blender or food processor. Mix almond meal together
with one tbsp honey and one egg white. Apply to face and set for about fifteen minutes. Gently wipe
the mask off with a damp wash cloth.
• Mix half a avocado and apply evenly over your face and neck. Allow mask to set for twenty minutes
and then gently wipe off with a damp wash cloth.
• Soak one cup of dried apricots in water until softened. Puree in blender or food processor with two
tbsp of skim milk powder. Apply the mask to your face and neck and allow the mask to set and work its
magic for no more than fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes gently wipe the mask off your face and
neck with a damp washcloth.
• Mix together one handful of strawberries and mix well with one tsp of honey. Apply the mask to your
face and neck and allow to set for about fifteen minutes. Gently wipe the mask off your face and neck
with a damp washcloth.
• Mix together one and a half tsp of honey, the juice from half a lemon and one small carton of plain
yogurt. Stir in 1hpped egg white and apply this mask to your face and neck. Allow this mask to work its
magic for fifteen minutes and gently wipe off with a damp washcloth.

This mask is particularly for mature skin.

For this mask your will need:

2 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp warm water

Melt the sugar in warm water. Make sure the granules are dissolved, otherwise they may tear your
skin. Apply to the face and allow it to set for five minutes. After five minutes gently massage around the
skin. Rinse the mask off with a lot of water
• This mask is great for soothing chapped, irritated or sunburned skin. Mix together one cup of natural
yogurt, half a cup of oatmeal and apply evenly of your face and neck allowing setting for ten minutes.
Rinse off with a lot of water.
• This mask is great for wrinkles. Mix together one tsp of butter in one tsp of water. Apply the mask
evenly over your face and neck and allow it to set for 20 mins. Rinse the mask of with a lot of water.
Home Made Masks
